Some Interesting News . . .

New update!! I will be losing a week off my mission! Due to the change in age and the amount of time that missionaries will be in the MTC, our mission is cutting back a week to keep up with the MTC departure dates. As an effect of this, all missionaries in our mission will be losing a week off their missions. I will now be coming home 2 days before my 2 year mark. That is all.

So, everything is going alright now. My companion and I have worked out the majority of the problems now and the area is starting to pick up. My companion bought a Rubik’s Cube and can now solve it without the solution guide. We found a new investigator and we put him on date for the middle of February. We will be having at least 3 baptisms this month and it will be great.

Something interesting happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was on exchanges with our Zone Leaders, and we met this lady that was a “born again” Christian. She had a tile with Galatians 5: 22-23 on it and when she answered the door, she was rude and said she wished she could “save us”. She wasn’t interested in hearing what we had to say, but it was interesting to see that there are people out there, in every religion and aspect of life, that don’t follow what they “believe” in. It’s like what Isaiah prophesied would happen in the latter days:

“Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. -Isaiah 29: 13-14

The people draw near the Lord with their lips, meaning they “believe” in him, but they don’t honor him by keeping his commandments. It’s sad to see these people everywhere in the world and it helps me to know that the Lord has proceeded to do a marvellous work and a wonder. That work being the Restoration of His church and the wonder is the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, proof that God still does call men in this day and age as well as in the days of old. My wish is that we get along and don’t have to worry about people criticizing each other and spewing hatred things towards one another.

“You criticize and attack people for their birth and [personality] – things they cannot change. It is you who are not human.” -Presea Combatir (Tales of Symphonia ‘words changed’)
